How to Dress

Print E-mail

Nightclubs and some fine dining require dressier clothes (such as Pure at Caesars and Le Cirque at Bellagio) but mostly expect casual dress. Shorts, polo shirts, t-shirts and sneakers suffice. Men should bring dark dress shoes, slacks and a collared shirt; and Women may bring heels or flats and a favorite dress or dressy jeans for nightclubbing or the stricter restaurants.

You only need a coat about 4 months of the year and may not even need a light jacket or sweater during June through August. You might want to pack one if air conditioning in a movie or casino is chilly for you. Pack a bathing suit or swim trunks from Mid-March to early October. The swimming season is the same as the Sunscreen season below.

The Las Vegas Strip is much bigger than it seems on maps because the blocks are so large—1/2 mile sometimes. Comfortable shoes are necessary and if not used to walking, use nylon socklets inside your socks to prevent blisters. We recommend you pack 2 pairs of walking shoes. Let one pair dry while you wear the other.

Consider taking a water bottle or pausing to drink when walking distances because sweating loss in the desert can be surprisingly large. With exertion and conditions, you could lose roughly 2 liters an hour or so which is 8.4 glasses. In dry conditions, you dehydrate without noticing since perspiration wicks away quickly.
