February 2012 Las Vegas Conventions
The pace of convention activity hardly slows from the January frenzy with the tail end of World Market bleeding into early February. MAGIC is the biggest convention of the month at 75,000 expected attendees from the 13th to the 15th. However, if you are trying to get a room around the 22nd-23rd of the month, note that a half dozen conventions overlap and there are actually more conventioneers expected then.
Even though Superbowl 46 is not a convention, if you are trying to avoid crowds, or perhaps enjoy the hustle and bustle, be sure to circle Sunday February 5th as a hectic time in Vegas. There will be 2.5X-4X more bettors in town for Superbowl than March Madness.

March 2012 Las Vegas Conventions
There is an increase in the number of conventions of at least 1,000 in March but there are no mega conventions with ASD at 41,000 and Nightclub and Bar at 30,000. The frantic Jan/Feb convention rush finally shows signs of calming. The early month golf conventions will have overlapping visitors so a 20,000 estimate should mostly cover those two.
Even though March Madness has become more sane over the years, still expect decent crowds for the early rounds. Strangely enough the April finals don't bring in many visitors (the finals are actually omitted from our holiday/sporting event calendar) with most of the crowds here for the early rounds only. Our abbreviation for the Las Vegas Convention Center is LVCC.

2012 Major Las Vegas Conventions
Here are conventions of at least 10,000 attendees. Our abbreviation for the Las Vegas Convention Center is LVCC. We also have a list of the major holidays and sporting events so you can plan when to visit Vegas if you are trying to avoid crowds and get the best rates on hotels.
Because of the lack of 3 day weekends, major sporting events and large conventions, April may be a good time to visit. Weather is not bad either (click here for more info). April's record high and low of 99 and 31 bracket an average high of 78 and average low of 54 fahrenheit.

Here are the major holidays for 2012 including sporting events such as Superbowl 46 and March Madness (which draw in huge numbers of bettors) and other events such as NASCAR, the marathon, Las Vegas Bowl, and NFR. As of now, the Indycar finals are not going to be held in the late fall here in Vegas but the trucks should roll. The Las Vegas Bowl date could vary by a few days from the estimated date.
