September 2008 Events for Las Vegas
Normally, September is a fairly strong month for overall visitors to Las Vegas. There are no huge conventions with National Mining and Interbike the largest ones towards the end of the month. However, the 10th and 11th of the month should be fairly crowded because there are a number of conventions that overlap. Unless you actually combine event attendance, you would not know this and we think we are the only website about Las Vegas that does this.
On the 20th of this month is the Qwik Liner 350 which has drawn crowds of over 60,000. However, we list a much lower number because the LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority) sampled attendance at an earlier Craftsman Truck race and found that attendance was mostly locals. This is not true of the Nascar races which brings in hordes of out-of-towners.
Joe Weider brings Olympia hopefuls which should pump up visitor counts towards the end of the month. Although Vegas has its share of bodybuilders, most are coming from out of town and bringing friends and family too.
You should always try to get comped tickets if you gamble or pay regular box office prices. However, if you don't mind paying a premium for very good seats, TicketsNow which usually has one of the largest inventories. Their website can be a bit difficult to use. Just choose Las Vegas and then search for an event you would like to see. Don't go to this site if you are strictly a discount ticket buyer, however.
