March Events for Las Vegas

The biggest events for March are Nascar, Conexpo, and March Madness.  Nascar’s Pole Day is actually on 2/29 but the races are run on March 1 and 2 with two extra seating sections added this year.  Attendance records should be shattered although it won’t feel as crowded on the Strip or Downtown as you would think because many Nascar fans bring their RVs.

If you are a fan of huge machinery, Conexpo-Con/Agg will be in town for its once every third year convention.  The Mountain West Conference will be followed by March Madness.  NCAA basketball fans will pour into the city but mostly for the very start.  By the time of the Final 4 and the championship game 2 days later, most will be gone—the exact opposite of what you would expect.

March was the highest average daily visitor month in 2007 at 111,508.  2007 averaged 107,388 visitors per day for all 12 months.  March was the second most popular month to visit Vegas in 2005 and 2006 but with Conexpo should be the busiest month for 2008.

How to Avoid Las Vegas Crowds

You can still avoid crowds even in March.  Look for gaps between the peak visitors.  From March 3-9 there is not a lot going on with another gap from the 16-19th.  March should end fairly quietly with the basketball fans pretty much gone by then (perhaps to San Antonio?).

If you procrastinate and would still like to see Nascar, boxing, etc. in Vegas here is a link to Tickets Now that often has the largest inventories of tickets and a good reputation. Tickets Now
