Las Vegas Convention Crowd

February's spotlights are on:

From Feb. 26-28th it's time to backflip from the roof of your NASCAR racer with joy as over 100,000 racing fans visit Vegas.  Superbowl 44 should attract almost 3X that many bettors and viewers with UFC 109 the day before.

Despite losing some recurring headliners, the entertainment schedule looks strong with Santana starting back up at the Hard Rock and Mariah Carey back in town at Caesars late in the month.  There are over 100 acts coming to Vegas this month.

The convention schedule is heavy with MAGIC, World of Concrete and ASD/AMD expected to bring in 70,000, 65,000, and 40,000 attendees respectively.  If you are trying to avoid crowds this February, it can be done but not that easily.

  • We added a new discount code for Restaurant.com in our Dining discount section (please click on the preceding blue underlined link) on February 2, 2010 which saves 60% off the usual price. This is good until February 8, 2010 and also comes with a $15 off coupon for flowers at FTD.

  • Despite $10 a beer pricing, Mandarin Oriental Bar (23rd floor of Mandarin Oriental at CityCenter) is a great way to take in both the North and South Strip views.  Service is fantastic, the crowd is upscale and decor elegant.  Nurse your drinks as long as you can and the quality of the view will make this a true bargain.

  • Ra Sushi is an Americanized sushi chain (25+ restaurants in the U.S.) that has a good happy hour from 3-7 (and again from 10 to midnight) everyday except Sunday.  The selection is unusually wide with 13 sushi items and 15 appetizers half-priced during the discount time.

  • Sake is $1, beers start at $2 and go up to $4 for Kirin during the happy hours.  Recommended for those who like variety and cheap sake.  The gyozas are good and nigiri is only $2-$2.50 with rolls in the $3.50 up to $6.25 (Viva Las Vegas) range. Located in Fashion Show Mall.

  • Bellagio Fountains are free to watch and still one of the best attractions in Vegas.  Every 15 minutes from 8 pm to midnight every night of the week.

  • Monday to Fridays, the fountains show runs every 30 minutes from 3 to 8 pm.  On Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from noon to 8 pm every 30 minutes.
